Physician Executive | Medical Consultant | Internal Medicine Physician | Medical Writer | Value Based Care | Utilization Management & Physician Advising

I’m an internal medicine physician, physician executive, consultant and medical writer with extensive experience across clinical practice, hospital medicine, value based care, utilization management, advanced illness care and healthcare leadership.

I have served as Chief Medical Officer for both a value based care organization and a hospice and advanced illness organization, leading clinical and operational initiatives across the care continuum. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with physicians, advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams to align clinical practice with organizational strategy, improve patient outcomes, reduce unnecessary utilization and strengthen performance in value based care environments.

Today, through Christina Rama, LLC, I provide medical consulting and physician services to healthcare organizations. My work includes utilization management and physician advising, medical necessity and level of care review, clinical operations, value based care, population health, care model development and healthcare strategy. I also continue to practice medicine, providing locum tenens internal medicine coverage. Staying clinically active keeps my work grounded in the realities physicians and patients face every day.

My leadership approach is collaborative and data driven, with a particular focus on physician engagement. I believe sustainable clinical and operational improvement is difficult to achieve unless physicians understand the goal, have a meaningful voice in how we get there and are accountable for the results.

More recently, I have expanded another longstanding interest: medical writing and public education. I write about medicine, public health, emerging research and healthcare policy for a general audience, with an emphasis on separating evidence from headlines and making complicated medical topics understandable without oversimplifying them.

Across all of these roles, the common thread is translating medicine into action, whether that means helping a healthcare organization make better clinical and operational decisions, helping a physician navigate a difficult utilization question, caring for a patient at the bedside, or helping a reader understand what a new medical study actually means.

I’m always interested in connecting with healthcare leaders, physicians and organizations working to improve care, strengthen physician engagement and navigate the rapidly changing healthcare environment.
